Lottario or 6-49 – Which should I play? Simple answer – It depends! On what? Well, here are a few facts.
For a $2 investment, you get FOUR Lottario games or just ONE 6-49 Games – so instantly you are 4 four times more likely to to win Lottario than you are to win 6-49 lotto.
But, it gets tricker. Lottario is a 6-from-45 game, so the odds of a SINGLE ticket winning are 1-in-8,145,060 (the odds shown on the official Lottario website are half of this, because they are based on the minimum play of 2 games for $1).
The odds of a SINGLE ticket winning any 6-49 lottery are 1-in-13,983,816 – but a single ticket does cost $2.
The only sensible way to compare Lottario and 6-49 is to bring them both back to a common price point – say $2.
So, the RELATIVE odds – adjusted for ticket cost – are 1-in-13,983,816 for 6-49 and 1-in-2,036,265 for Lottario, based on a $2 investment.
This means you are almost SEVEN times more likely to win Lottario than 6-49.
Another fact that pushes the Odds in Lottario’s favour is that if you buy your Lottario ticket before midnight Friday night, you get a FREE set of numbers for a bonus game called Early Bird.
Now “free” is good in anybodys language! To win the Lottario Early Bird draw, you need to match just FOUR balls (drawn seperately from the main lottario numbers). The Early Bird prize is $50,000 shared between all winners.
But, back to the original question – Lottario or 6-49 – Which should I play? The above suggests Lottario. But – we have not yet factored in the size of the First Prize.
IF Lottario is at its $250,000 Minimum and 6-49 Lotto has a massive Jackpot – then I would play 6-49.
However, if Lottario has jackpotted to anything over $750,000 and 6-49 Lotto is at or near its minimum level, then I would play Lottario.
This is why I said, “It depends” at the start of this article. You now understand the odds of winning Lottario and the odds of winning 6-49 lotto – So make your decision based on what the Jackpot for each game is. As I write this, the official Lottario site shows a winner of $2,633,152 – How much more do you really need?
If Lottario is offering $750,000 or more – Play Lottario; especially since the Lottario Early Bird draw is free provided you buy your ticket before midnight Friday.
